We at Yellow Door invite you to enjoy our delicious seasonal menu as we take up residency at our latest venue; the Historic Royal Palace’s Hillsborough Castle and Gardens. Visit us at our café and The Stable Yard Tea Room, next to the Castle, which is now open for tea, coffee, cakes, light lunches and very special afternoon teas.
Historic Royal Palaces has recently re-opened the doors of Hillsborough castle and grounds to the public where you can wander through 100 acres of beautiful gardens developed from the 1760s onwards, offering a contrast of ornamental grounds, peaceful woodland, meandering waterways, and trimmed lawns.
Entry to the Hillsborough Castle Café is free, located in the Visitor’s Centre, beside the main car park off the A1.
The Stable Yard Tea Room is beside the castle.
Located in the Visitor Centre beside the gift shop, the café has a self-service restaurant offering breakfast, hot lunches, light bites, delicious soups and chowder, food for kids and a range of hot and cold drinks, loose leaf tea and barista coffee.
Desserts, scones and patisserie are a favourite. Menu changes daily depending on what is seasonal and growing in the walled garden.
Opening times: Monday – Sunday: 09:30 – 17:30

The Stable Yard, beside the castle, is home to the Tea Room, serving light lunches, delicious pastries, cakes, and of course, afternoon teas and cream teas.
Our freshly baked scones are served with local or walled garden preserves and thick double-cream; it is up to you entirely whether the jam or cream goes first. With a choice of 12 loose leaf Suki teas or indeed a glass of bubbles the Stable Yard Tea Room provides the perfect backdrop to indulge.

The 18th century walled garden at Hillsborough Castle and Gardens has been lovingly restored and is run by an amazing team of gardeners. They are growing all sorts of herbs, vegetables, and fruits for us to use in the café and Stable Yard Tea Room, many of which are heirloom varieties.
The flavour of produce this fresh is incomparable and we know the garden will take us on a seasonal journey and influence our menus on a daily basis.
